COVID Rates in Major film locations

Use our tracker to stay on top of the latest COVID rates and news in major film locations across the U.S.

The United States has the highest number of cumulative cases and deaths in the world, and while the disease severity may have lessened, it’s still vital to be cautious and to take preventative steps to limit the disease’s transmission. That’s because, in addition to the human and public health concerns about spreading the virus, industries that rely on in-person work and collaboration like the film industry need to mitigate risk by taking appropriate actions.

This tracker of major film locales throughout the U.S. is meant to help production specialists stay on top of virus levels in these communities where they do so much of their work. is the first step until there is more data on how long vaccines and boosters provide immunity, especially since no vaccine provides 100% protection. What can businesses do? Test early and often so that you can identify and isolate asymptomatic cases before the virus can spread and disrupt the workplace.

A few important definitions to help understand the data below:

  • Case rate: The number of cases per 100,000 people. The lower, the better.
  • Positivity rate: Percentage of reported tests that confirm a case of COVID-19. Below 5% indicates that a community has control over virus spread.
  • Community-level: The CDC determines the level of virus in a community by looking at the case rate and the percentage of beds in use. It does not include the positivity rate, death rate, or data from wastewater surveillance (which is an early indicator of virus levels).
